Andy Skelton was born in Burlington, Vermont, in the shadow of the planet in 1978 if you believe the records.
Andy spent his first five years in diapers, casts and sailor uniforms. On the morning of his first day at school, his mother closed the car door on his hand. He never liked school after that.
Andy dreamed of quitting school but he was forbidden to give up his career as a public school student for thirteen years. He went to college (where he was given the network user name “skeltoac” and a password that was impossible to remember) but he had become so complacent as a student that it took him three years to discover that if he didn’t drop out of college, he wouldn’t get another chance to make his unfulfilled dream come true. He took that chance.
Andy moved to Texas without even thinking about it. If there is any regret linked to this move, he won’t admit it. He likes to be right.
Andy worked for a while as a happy sub-contractor on a government project. Because of the importance of national security and the utter banality of it all (the latter being the major factor) he won’t post about the details, except to say that it taught him to love whiskey.
Andy Skelton is now employed by Automattic, Inc., where he wrangles scripts and tangles with some of the meanest bugs this side of Rudy’s.
